Atopic Dermatitis in Skin of Color, Skin Picking and Other Habitual Disorders, and Social Media and Your Practice are just some of the sessions being presented at the 47th Meeting of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology in Indianapolis, Indiana July 7th through July 10th.

Friday, July 8th, Candrice Heath, MD, assistant professor of Dermatology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, shares the different presentations of atopic dermatitis in children and adolescents of color, while later that day, Jon Grant, MD, JD, MPH, professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Chicago in Illinois discusses the status of excoriation (skin picking) disorder in the DSM-5 and what that means for people who struggle with this illness.

Other sessions include updates on JAK inhibitors (Ali Jabbari, MD, PhD, FAAD, associate professor of Dermatology at the University of Iowa in Iowa City); and the health opportunities for pediatric dermatologists around the world, led by Toby Maurer, MD, a board-certified dermatologist and professor of Clinical Dermatology at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis.

On Saturday, July 9, Lawrence Eichenfield, MD, chief of Pediatric and Adolescent Dermatology at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics and vice-chair of the department of Dermatology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, will be presenting the AAP Section on Dermatology Alvin Jacobs Award to Sheila Fallon Friedlander, MD, professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Medicine, San Diego School of Medicine, and director of the Dermatology Fellowship Training Program at Rady Children's Hospital in California. This award from the American Academy of Pediatrics recognizes contributions in the field of pediatric dermatology, named after the late Alvin Jacobs, MD, a longtime professor of Dermatology who conducted pioneering work in the field of Dermatology at Stanford University in California, and was one of the founding fathers of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology.

"I'm looking forward to attending this in-person conference in Indianapolis," notes Bernard A. Cohen, editor for the Dermcase column in Contemporary Pediatrics®, professor of Pediatrics and Dermatology, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. "There will be some great topics covered, from pediatric morphea to the latest therapeutic updates on acne."
