The Consumers Product Safety Commission put out a warning this week for people to check their houses to make sure that they don't have any “Cavalier” brand cedar chests, like the one featured in the photo, that still has the latch or lock attached to it. According to the CPSC warning, the chest's lid locks automatically when the lid is closed. Since a lot of kids are spending time at home these days, or maybe at a relative's house, where they're wanting to 'explore', it's especially important now that those locks get removed.
Also, as more people start to shop at garage sales, flea markets or antique stores during the summer, the CPSC is warning consumers to be on the lookout for the "Cavalier" brand cedar chest and again, remove the locks or latches immediately. Please keep in mind that if you do find a cedar chest like this, or already own one, not all of the cedar chests will look like exactly like the one in the picture but it's still important to get that lock removed.
