CLEVELAND, Ohio -- With Veterans Day Nov. 11, cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer want to honor Northeast Ohio veterans as our November Homegrown Hero.
As part of the Homegrown Hero series, we will feature one veteran, though all nominated veterans will be recognized.
The series, which features hardworking, diligent and inspiring community members, began in August, and it will continue through December. In October, we focused on nurses, and the winner’s story will be published Nov. 8.
We are asking you to nominate a veteran you believe has done great work during his or her service, or at home in the community.
“When I was recently asked to describe 2020, the word unprecedented immediately came to mind. Not just because I feel the word unprecedented has been overused, but challenge drives innovation and compassion,” Advance Local Midwest Regional President Bradley Harmon said. “With that said, Heroes come in all shapes and sizes and we’re here to recognize them. Most of them don’t wear a cape or uniform, but all have one thing in common…they are making our community a better place. That’s the sole purpose of the HomeGrown Hero Program.”
You can nominate veterans here beginning today; nominations will end Nov. 22.
Please write in 200 words or less what the veteran has done during their service or any exceptional work in their community. You can nominate one person per hour.
