On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, acting CBP Commissioner Mark Morgan discusses how dangerous the migrant caravan coming towards the southern border means for immigration policy and why it could prove to be dangerous during COVID.
"This caravan is something we haven't seen in a couple of years. It's absolutely solely being driven by the perception of open borders that are being driven by the Biden administration. You can't take one thing out of context. You have to put everything into context. He's going to stop deportation for 100 days. He's going to allow people once they come in illegally to remain in the United States. He's going to support DACA, support sanctuary cities, and then he's going to reward them with free health care. That's not immigration strategy. That's an open border strategy. And the human smugglers know it and the migrants know it. And that's why we're seeing the caravans we're seeing right now."
"The American people are being lied to. This is not a political statement for me. I'm a career guy who just happened to be filling a political spot right now. But I'm telling you that what I'm seeing is politics and power being put above public safety. They are lying to the American people with respect to the threats that we're seeing along the southwest border. They are lying to the American people about the heart of the Trump administration network of policies that have been put in place to actually do it. We saw a decrease prior to COVID of seventy-five percent. And many of those were families from the Northern Triangle countries. That alone has saved countless lives. We're still in the middle of a global pandemic. In the middle of a global pandemic, you have nine-to-twelve-thousand people there trying to force their way through countless COVID-impacted areas to try to make their way to the United States. It's unbelievable. It's outrageous."
