New Jersey’s average property tax bill rose from $8,953 to $9,112 last year, an increase of $159.

Town by town, the average property tax bill in 500 municipalities rose last year, while the average bill fell in 56 others.

But residents in 30 towns had to fork over far more for property taxes last year.
