The high school hockey season closed Saturdaywith championship games in the boys' state tournament at the Xcel Energy Center.
Gentry Academy, the metro-area private school that also had a team in the girls' title game, defeated Dodge County for the 1A championship. In a battle of suburban powers — Eden Prairie and Lakeville South — the Eagles won in double overtime for the 2A title.
CLASS 2A
Eden Prairie 2, Lakeville South 1 (2OT)
Eden Prairie's Jackson Blake scored early in the second overtime to give the Eagles a 2-1 victory over Lakeville South.
Saturday's game at Xcel Energy marked the first championship game appearance for No. 3 seed Lakeville South (20-0-2). The school opened in 2005.
Eden Prairie (20-1-2) lost the past two title games.
No Class 2A program has ever finished second for three consecutive seasons. The Eagles were trying to win their first state championship since 2011. That title game went to three overtimes before Kyle Rau's head-first sliding effort produce the game-winner.
Eden Prairie downed Lakeville South in the state tournament quarterfinals the past two seasons. In 2019, the teams engaged in a three-overtime classic won 3-2 by the Eagles.

CLASS 1A
Gentry Academy 8, Dodge County 1
Senior forward Damon Furuseth had a goal and three assists and Gentry Academy held Dodge County scoring superstar Brody Lamb to a single goal as the No. 2-seeded Stars eased to an 8-1 victory to win theClass 1A championship at Xcel Energy Center.
The Stars (19-0) became Class 1A's first unbeaten, untied state champion since Red Wing went 28-0 in 1997. Hermantown went 29-0-1 to win a Class 1A title in 2007.
Gentry Academy, based in Vadnais Heights,also became the first Class 1A team to win a state title in its first tournament appearance since Benilde-St. Margaret's in 1999. Unseeded Dodge County (19-4-1) also was making its first trip to the state tournament.
