Why Are You Like This? season 1 mostly focuses on the conflict between the three protagonists; however, the season finale centers on the cancellation of entrepreneur Alma Chen (Ra Chapman). As a standalone episode, "I Will Not Speak for the Entire Queer Community" reinforces several of the Netflix show's Gen Z themes, but the climax brings all of the protagonists together rather than setting up conflict for the second season. Here's what to expect for Why Are You Like This? season 2.

Why Are You Like This Season 2 Renewal Status

Why Are You Like This

Why Are You Like This? season 2 hasn't been officially greenlit; however, a renewal does seem likely. Higgins co-created the series with Humyara Mahbub, and they based the characters on their real-life experiences (in collaboration with Aunty Donna performer Mark Samual Bonanno). Expect producers to officially order Why Are You Like This? season 2 sometime during the spring/summer 2021.

All of the main protagonists will likely return for Why Are You Like This? season 2. For some extra comedic zing, Bonanno could possibly make a cameo, along with one or more of his Aunty Donna pals. It may even be worth adding a fourth lead from outside Australia, if only to broaden the audience.

Why Are You Like This? season 1 ends with the leads discussing Alma Chen, an entrepreneur who becomes the focus of cancel culture because of #CatShitGate. Since the first installment concludes with situational humor rather than character conflict, the showrunners will probably take the same approach moving forward. Expect Why Are You Like This? season 2 to prioritize Gen Z topics while progressively developing the central character arcs.
