Dance like it’s 2019 at weddings: Wedding season is back on in New York state and most brides and grooms can now invite as many people as they want, while vaccinated guests can take off their masks and dance with strangers. “We’re going to do an awful lot of business in the next five months,” said David Stirpe, who owns five venues in Vernon.
NYS Blues Festival returning with new location, vaccinated and unvaccinated sections: The 2021 New York State Blues Festival will take place June 24-26 at Chevy Court at the New York State Fairgrounds. The event remains free, but will have vaccinated and unvaccinated sections to maximize capacity with Covid-19 restrictions.
Inside the honor system at bars, restaurants: If you’re fully vaccinated, you don’t need to wear a mask or social distance in most places, while unvaccinated people must continue wearing a mask and distancing. Some businesses are still requiring masks for all customers, while others are using an “honor system” for allowing maskless patrons.

Liverpool girl receives Girl Scouts National Medal of Honor: Isabel “Izzy” Fingerman, 13, was honored Saturday by the Girl Scouts of the USA for saving her 4-year-old cousin from drowning in the Seneca River last May. Izzy jumped in to rescue Gemma Castle, after the four-year-old and her mother, Rosella Castle, lost their balance and fell into a deeper section of the water.
Employee accused of sneaking heroin, other drugs into CNY jail: Shawn M. Stevens, 41, of Lowville, was arrested by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and charged with intending to sell drugs inside the Whitestown jail. He’s now being held in the same correctional facility he’s accused of sneaking contraband into.

Nearing perfection again: The Le Moyne College men’s lacrosse team defeated Mercyhurst, 11-9, on Sunday, to improve to 14-0. The undefeated Dolphins will face Lenoir-Rhyne in the national title game, and could get its fourth perfect season in Division II.
