MERCER COUNTY, Oh. (WPTA21) - About a mile or more stretch of homes and barns were heavily damaged outside Fort Recovery, Ohio.
About 6 homes and barns were damaged along Fort Recovery Minister Road on Friday after a confirmed tornado went through the area.
Dorthy Hart and her son Patrick Hart lost one of their barns in the high winds.
They say this is the most damage they've ever seen in their area ever.
Patrick Hart says when he got the tornado warning on his phone he immediately called his parents and told them to get to their basement.
He says once it was safe to drive, he went to them and discovered the back half of the barn was collapsed.
"I called my mother to see what was going on and got an alert on my phone and I was like, please get down stairs," Hart said. "Once we knew it was safe to travel we, headed this way."
Dorothy Hart says she didn't think it would be that strong of a storm.
"It was raining real hard, it blew that door open in the hallway, so after, I closed that we went downstairs," she said. "Just thinking something like that never would happen to you, your building coming down."
The Hart family says the barn will need to be rebuilt, but thankfully their home was safe.
They say some of their neighbors had more damage, like one of their friends pig barns collapsing entirely.
The extent of the damage from the tornado is not confirmed, stay with us for updates.
