We think the E39-generation BMW M5 is an awesome car and perhaps has the most timeless design of any M5. However, is this low-mileage example really worth $299,990?
The following 2003 BMW M5 has been listed up for sale through Enthusiast Auto Group in Cincinnati, Ohio, known as one of the finest used car dealerships for classic and desirable BMW models. This M5 is painted in Imola Red and prior to landing in the hands of the dealer, had been owned by just a single family since new. Further adding to its desirability is the fact that it has only been driven 746 miles (1,200 km) since rolling off the production line.
Enthusiast Auto Group says it sourced the car from a collector in Puerto Rico in early 2021 and claims it is the cleanest E39 M5 it has ever acquired. The listing notes that it has always been stored in a climate-controlled environment and that the paint shows “virtually no flaws or disclosures.”

In order to get the car ready for sale, EAG replaced the original Dunlop SP Sport 8080 tires with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Ss. A service has also been performed and parts including the headlight adjusters and rear door panel vapor barriers were replaced. It has a completely clean vehicle history report with no accidents or mechanical issues.
As an E39 M5, the powerful sedan is driven by a 4.9-liter V8 that was good for 400 hp when the car was new and coupled exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. While nowadays sports sedans are markedly more powerful, a figure anywhere close to 400 hp is impressive, particularly in a car with plenty of luxurious features including an Alcantara headliner, HomeLink garage door opener, heated front seats, xenon headlights, and a Park Distance Control system.
