Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday visited the Integral Coach Factory and inspected the manufacturing of Vande Bharat trains at the facility here. The semi-high-speed train Vande Bharat Express trains rakes have been given a new look with a combination of orange, grey,and white colour in front instead of the existing blue and white colour.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw was also accompanied by senior officials of the ICF, took stock of the production of the latest new-generation high-speed trains and went around the sprawling campus.
“25 improvements have been done in Vande Bharat. Whatever feedback we are receiving from the field unit we are including that in the improvement," said Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
"This is a concept of Make In India, (which means) designed in India, by our own engineers, and technicians. So whatever feedback we are receiving from the field units, regarding ACs, toilets, etc., during the operation of Vande Bharat, all those improvements are being used for making changes in the design," Vaishnaw said in a press briefing.
"A new safety feature, 'anti climbers', or anti-climbing devices, on which we are working, were also reviewed today. These will be standard features in all the Vande Bharat and other trains," he added.

Later, the Minister interacted with the officials and staff at the ICF and also took photographs with them.
After conducting an inspection, the Union minister said that the new colour of the 28th rake of the indigenous train is "inspired by Indian Tricolour".
The new saffron Vande Bharat Express is however not yet operational and is currently stationed at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, where Vande Bharat trains are manufactured.
Railways officials told ANI that a total of 25 rakes of Vande Bharat Express are operational on their designated routes and two rakes are reserved. "While the colour of this 28th rake is being changed on a trial basis," they said.
The indigenously designed train set of Vande Bharat Express is equipped with state-of-the-art passenger amenities. It will provide a faster, more comfortable and more convenient travel experience to rail users.
Vande Bharat Express trains offer a myriad of superior amenities which will provide passengers with world class comfortable travelling experience & advanced state-of-the-art safety features including KAVACH technology. Each train has been provided with bogies having fully suspended traction motors for 160 kmph operational speed. The train has been designed to increase Indian Railways' Green footprint by dispensing with the power cars and saving about 30% electricity with advanced regenerative braking system.

Each train is equipped with bogies that have fully suspended traction motors, enabling an operational speed of 160 kmph. With the introduction of the Gorakhpur-Lucknow and Jodhpur-Sabarmati routes, the number of operational Vande Bharat routes in the country has now reached 50, providing a significant boost to connectivity and passenger experience across India.
In 2018-19, ICF rolled out the country's first semi-high-speed train set popularly known as the 'Vande Bharat Express' with Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging off the first train from New Delhi to Varanasi.
